Contributed by McAlester Fortnightly Member, Angie Sellmeyer

Sheri Jeter, GFWC OK Past State President, 2002-2004, passed this life to our Lord after abiding three bouts of cancer during her lifetime.   Sheri was a 60 year member of GFWC having joined Ophelia Junior Club, in Iowa Park, Texas in 1962. Sheri is a current member of Hugo, OK Inter-SE Club where she promoted the Conservation Cleanup Program.  The City of Hugo has since adopted this program as a usual part of their activities. Sheri served in many offices and capacities for GFWC within the State of Oklahoma.

A constant source of information and mentor to many, Sheri will be remembered as a kind and informative science teacher at Ft. Towson High School who inspired many students to graduate and move into STEM jobs. GFWC members who knew Sheri’s family remember her daughters who admired their mother as she worked and served in her community.

Sheri inspired many GFWC members to move into leadership positions to strengthen our clubs and State organization.  Sheri will be missed by all.

Sheri often portrayed her mother, Edyth Marie, Price, Brooks, who was a 60 year GFWC Clubwoman 1930-1990. Edyth served as Past President of the 23rd Study Club in Santa Rosa District, Iowa Park, Texas.  Sheri is shown in 2016 wearing her mother’s GFWC Uniform.
