$475 in award dollars were presented at the GFWC State Convention at the Pioneer Women Event Center in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. “Each of the 19 clubs presidents either received a book of all the state reports at the convention or will receive a copy in the mail in the next couple of weeks,” according to awards chairman, Monica Bartling. “Each Category had a judge that agreed to judge that particular category and the judges did not know who had won other categories.”
The Awards Chairman is not a judge for the important event that allows all clubs to vie for cash awards for placing first in a category. Also, general funds were not used to pay for the awards. Our state president attended each district’s convention and had special silent auction items that funded the state awards.”
Creative Category winners and categories were: Civic Engagement and Outreach — Perry Tuesday Afternoon Ladies Club for their sign project; Environment — Waurika Sorosis Club for their Wildflower project; Communications and Public Relations — Cheyenne Sorosis Club for their Pet Parade; Membership — Cheyenne Platonic Club for their Favorite Recipe brunch; Fundraising and Development — Waurika Sorosis Club for their Christmas Tree Tickets project; Health and Wellness — Waurika Sorosis Club for their Waurika Inspiring Hope Project; and, Education and Libraries — Cheyenne Platonic Club for their Life 101 Project.
