The real winners were people who lived in all the communities our clubs serve.  Amazing programs and tremendous volunteer efforts went into these programs and projects.

Patty Burkhead presents the winners in the category of GFWC Communications/PR to the Waurika Sorosis Club, McAlister Fortnightly and Nowata La-Kee-Kon winning first, second and third place, respectively.

Dear GFWC-OK Club Women:
OUR 18 Clubs made a significant difference in their communities in 2023. YOU made a difference. I think we would all agree that making a difference is what volunteering is all about. Our 2022-2024 GFWC International President, Deb Strahanoski challenged all clubs to DREAM BIG AND SPARKLE MORE and to bring our brilliant lights to the lives of others. Our members have stepped up and made that happen in our communities, our districts, and our state.
Cultural Anthropologist and Women’s Rights Advocate, Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” Our small groups led 360 Community Service Improvement projects in 2023. These efforts generated $338,246 in monetary donations and $46,051 in In-Kind contributions. We had 46,342 volunteer hours. Those hours and dollars do not include our State Advancement Plans which add another 29 projects, 723 Volunteer hours and $1,700 invested in promotions and public relations promoting our clubs and projects. We also fundraised $48,312 across all our clubs with 793 hours devoted to fundraising in 29 projects.
If you haven’t thanked every member in your club for their various contributions, we hope you will. We have 375 members across Oklahoma. Last year we had 30 new members join our clubs across the state. To date, members from the Executive Team have attended every District meeting as well as multiple club meetings across the state. We love to visit your clubs and talk about GFWC at the local level. We hope you will call on us during the coming administration to meet with your club members, attend a membership lunch or brunch or do a presentation on how GFWC impacts so many communities across the state.
Best regards,
Patty Burkhead, GFWC-OK State President 2022-2024
