International Day of Service September 27, 2025
The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) is united in its dedication to volunteer community service. For the third consecutive year, the 2025 GFWC International Day of Service (GFWC IDS), formerly the GFWC National Day of Service, was held on Saturday, September 27, to help end domestic and sexual violence across the United States and internationally.
Many Oklahoma Clubs participated. The GFWC-OK Twentieth Century Club of Antlers hosted a Basic Self-Defense Class to help their community build confidence and personal safety skills. Lift Community Action Agency’s gave a presentation on Safe Place Healing Hearts program sharing valuable resources for those impacted by sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking.
The GFWC Oklahoma Southwest/Central District hosted their state convention last Saturday with all clubs donating hygiene items to the Safe Center of Duncan, Oklahoma. Safe Center is a crisis intervention program that provides assistance to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Some of the services provided include a 24 hours crisis line, short term emergency shelter, basic needs assistance, advocacy, support groups, and legal services.
Participating Southwest/Central clubs who donated items to the Safe Center were GFWC-OK Anadarko Philomathic Club; GFWC-OK Cheyenne Sorosis Club; GFWC-OK Duncan Owl Club; GFWC-OK Duncan Philomathic Club; GFWC-OK Sulphur Sorosis Club and GFWC-OK Waurika Sorosis Club.
